Accreditation is the validation of a university&#8217;s teaching program by an agency authorized to provide an academic assessment of the institution&#8217;s diploma award process. It is generally not practiced in countries outside the United States. Ministries of education in different countries regulate their own colleges and universities.<\/p>\n<p>In the United States, there are regional accreditation associations, as well as selected private organizations, that accredit specific areas (for example, business and nursing).<\/p>\n<p>What most students do not know is that the United States government does not control or regulate colleges, universities or accrediting associations, except in relation to the refund of fees for students who qualify for these funds.<\/p>\n<p>American Universities are autonomous bodies that are subject to their own statutory rules and their American State of Origin.
